In the clip shown, sexuality is portrayed in many different ways. The shift between the characters in the masculine and feminine class is obvious with many different sexual groups involved. In the first screening when the old woman is introduced as she walks into the glamorous shop you are instantly aware that she is underclass. Her appearance is dated compared to the modern day female, highlighting the different views between the old and young and she is seen wearing no make up and presented in scruffy clothing. As she walks into the shop there is lively music being played as if to welcome the customers, however when she begins to speak the soundtrack score stops and the old woman sounds weak and vulnerable. This highlights the old woman's lack of authority as she is surrounded by luxuries and that an old woman should not be seen in a shop targeted at wealthy, young adults.
In the same clip we are introduced to the shop assistant who is gendered as camp. He is dressed in a smart suit with well groomed hair which emphasises he is a working class man. When the shop assistant meets the old woman the difference between old and young is visible. He instantly seems to have power over the old woman as he demonstrates todays generation where young people seem to manipulate old people as they are now in charge over the generation and the old people's time is over. The shop assistant is money motivated as he is only attracted to the customers who are well dressed and look "expensive". The other character in the clip is a pretty woman who is wearing revealing clothes. She is an example of male gaze as the power instantly changes to her as she has the shop assistant looking on at awe. The woman is an example of the young generation who look after their appearance as she is seen in make up and her hair nicely looked after. The woman's appearance and constant reference to money implies that she is working class. As the woman supposedly "loses her ring" the power is eminent that it is in her hands. She has the shop assistant desperately searching the shop for the "lost ring" as she offered him £5,000 in cash, which is an example of the shop assistant's desperation for money. As the woman pretends to look for her ring a masculine edit is visible as the cut is sharp and fast. This shows the woman's power that even when she is panicking, the woman still owns the scene. Whereas when the shop assistant is looking for the ring a feminine edit is visible as the cut is gradual and soft, which also highlights the shop assistant as post masculine.
When the edit is of the old woman she is constantly looking up at the shop assistant as the camera angle is looking over the assistants shoulder. This highlights the old woman's lack of power and status in todays society as she is being manipulated by the younger generation. It is also an example of the difference between male and female. Male's are seen higher and more important as woman which is shown clearly in the clip. However when the clip is changed to the woman and the shop assistant, the woman's masculine role is visible. The woman is constantly in centre shots and close ups to show her dominance over the people around her and to show her importance. The woman is challenging stereotypes as she is seen higher than the shop assistant and challenging his stereotype. To the viewers, homosexuals is not seen as normal for a male as they are portrayed as intimidating and strong. However in this clip, the shop assistant is playing the homosexual stereotype as weak and his views are not taken into consideration. The woman clearly senses his weakness as she feels she can trick him with money and realises he is playing the homosexual stereotype and takes advantage of that.
When both women are introduced, there is an extreme close up shot of each of their rings. This resembles the difference in power between the two women. The close up of the old woman's ring clearly resembles the difference in age. The old woman's ring is dated and dull compared to the woman's ring which is expensive and big, and the ring reflects from the light to show off the diamonds attached to it. This portrays the difference in wealth between old and young, as young adults in todays world are portrayed as fashionable and expensive compared to old people who are portrayed as disorientated of today's world.
Overall, the clip demonstrates the challenging of stereotypes as the woman takes on the masculine role with all the power and dominance through her being symbolised as a sex object, which helps to distract the shop assistant from his duty. The shop assistant also challenges stereotypes as he is gendered as camp, which in today's world is not seen as normal for a male.
